I was part of a book study about five years back, and we read Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. In the pillar of Silence, he suggested we give Meditation a try.
At first, I was not too excited to implement this practice because I was afraid I would fall back to sleep. However, after I researched different types of meditations, I found there were specific ones to do in the morning. I started and have been hooked ever since.
Because the meditations help position me in the morning as centered and be ready for whatever the day brings my way, I decided to start implementing sleep meditations. I was struggling to get my head to unwind before bed. I used toss for hours before falling asleep now I am out within a half hour. My favorite meditator is Jason Stephenson, and you can pull him up on YouTube. I know there are plenty of apps you can too.
It is one thing for me to tell you how awesome meditation is; however, let me share the benefits with you.
- Meditation improves your immune function.
- Meditation decreases inflamation.
- Meditation decreases blood pressure
- Meditation decreases stress and anxiety
- Meditation is a natural antidepressant
I am so glad I stuck with doing meditation and it is part of my daily practice because it has helped with my depression, anxiety, and most of all my sleep. Meditation is one of the first things I recommend to my clients if they are struggling with sleep and implementing a morning routine.
It will take practice, but it works, and you will grow to love it!
I would love to hear if you use meditation or if my blog has inspired you to give meditation a try!
