I used to be one of those moms that would wake up when the babies got up, and I always felt frazzled and behind the eight ball all day long.
Even though my “to do” list was written, and my coffee was ready to brew, I felt like I was not emotionally ready for the day. I never felt settled or at peace! I felt rushed. I could not figure out what the missing piece of the puzzle was. I chalked it up to being not a morning person and was much better at being a night person!
I rocked and rolled at night with getting things done; however, that was not helping me in the morning. I knew something had to be done, or I would never get a handle on my day!
I didn’t want to roll through my day. No, I wanted to WIN my day! I craved that peace and serenity, and I knew I had to figure out a way to achieve it.
I decided in order for me to get the most success out of my day, I needed to set my alarm and wake up before my kids. I started off small. I woke up an hour before my kids so that I could have my coffee in peace and do some reflection (aka journal and devotional time). Later, I added an additional 30 minutes so I could get a workout in before they work up!
The tweak in my schedule was just what I needed! I now wake up 2.5 hours before my kids so I can fully prepare for my day! It is one of the best parts of my day because I have the opportunity to be settled before I engage with my kids. By the time they wake up, I am settled and refreshed! I have had my “me” time!
It is truly a win win situation. It was a game changer in my life, and it could be for you as well! I highly recommend the book The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod! The book was amazing. I now have created my “own” miracle morning which helps me win my morning!
